Emergence 2028
Welcome to the Neon Nightmare

Alternate realities embrace a sinister near-future in creator Ian Kane’s cutting-edge new franchise—Emergence 2028, part of the Fading Empires Universe (FEU).

In this dystopian parallel universe, the world has evolved differently from ours. Due to various geopolitical events, such as China taking over Taiwan in 1991, technology has evolved abnormally, with older 80s and 90s tech still being used alongside more futuristic tech. People purchase or pilfer whatever they can get their hands on, even if it means bringing harm to others.

In this savage neon noir world, giant companies called megafirms, as well as global underworld cartels, have taken over society. In many large cities including Los Angeles, law enforcement has been defunded and law-abiding citizens are prevented from having firearms. Naturally, this has led to a surge in crime rates.

Meanwhile, criminals have free reign of the Los Angeles streets.

Los Angeles itself is surrounded by sprawling walled-off sectors known as the Dark Wards. Traveling to these forlorn regions is usually a one-way ticket, and those few souls fortunate enough to return have usually been driven insane.

At the forefront of this tumultuous landscape stand Cal Richter and Zeke Malone, enigmatic figures with a shared past veiled in secrecy. Returning to Los Angeles from overseas, they establish Intrepid Soldier International (ISI), a clandestine black ops outfit operating under the guise of legitimacy. With a team of skilled operatives at their disposal, Cal and Zeke navigate the treacherous waters of the city’s underworld, taking on missions that champion the cause of the vulnerable and innocent.

In another part of town, ex-CIA analyst Mickey Knox has also landed back in LA—but under far more sinister circumstances. What are Mickey’s ties to Cal and Zeke, as well as his ultimate motives?
